“Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.  For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed: neither hid, that shall not be known.  Therefore, whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.”
(Luke 12:1b-3)

“Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked, from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity, …they may shoot in secret at the perfect, and fear not….But God shall shoot at them with an arrow and suddenly shall they be wounded.” (Psalm 64:2,4,7)

Dear Intercessors for Israel:

Numerous instances in scripture reveal that there is nothing hidden that God cannot see.  No matter how quiet the wicked keep their secret counsels, or seek to cover every plot, plan, or strategy they have spoken in darkness, it shall be brought into the light.  Moses warned the children of Israel that in sinning against the LORD, “your sin would find you out.”  Micah proclaims “Woe to those that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds” (Mic 2:1).  Jesus said he will declare unto those who have worked iniquity: “Depart from me, I never knew you.” (Mt. 7:23).

Israelis news sources have for the past two weeks revealed a multitude of hypocritical acts, underhanded land sales, and outright rewards for wickedness.  These manipulations and evil will all reap the whirlwind in the courts of God’s justice.

Payments to Rioters

Last month’s Temple Mount crisis, brought about by the slaying of two Israeli Policemen and the ensuing placement of metal detectors at the entrances to this holy site, has been resolved to a degree.  PM Netanyahu bowing under pressure from Arab rioting, and widespread condemnation from world leaders agreed to remove all security machines and monitoring cameras.   Even so, riots and protests by Palestinian “defenders of the Al-Aksa” mosque (Temple Mount) have continued to occur.

This week, Israel’s Channel 11 reported that the Palestinian Authority is currently offering cash and other incentive to Arab residents of Jerusalem to encourage them either riot or stage violent attacks against Israelis.  Among the benefits offered were payments up to $1000 a month for 3 months, exemptions from electrical bills, and free tuition payments for Arab college students who participate in anti-Israel riots.  P.A. President Abbas also announced that he will bestow citations and awards on those who are the “most active rioters” or station themselves in harm’s way.

 Payments to Terrorists

More information has surfaced that the P.A. in pursuing its policy of payment to terrorists is disbursing about half of its annual budget.  According to the P.A. 2016 budget, over 183 million dollars was paid to 26,800 families of martyrs (those who were killed attacking Israelis), and another 135 million dollars paid in salaries to 6,500 terrorist prisoners held by Israel.  The more years a P.A. terrorist serves in prison, the higher the salary he or she receives.  Some terrorists held in Israeli prisons receive up to $4000 a month.  Upon release, many of them receive high positions/employment within the Palestinian Authority.  These “payments” represent the P.A. leadership’s way of expressing gratitude to those who have chosen to “sacrifice” their lives by trying to wreak havoc and murder Israelis.  It is also a way to encourage a younger generation to join the “war” against Israel.  This financial aid sends a message to the Arab community that those who are prepared to die need not worry about the welfare of their families (www.timesofisrael.com).

President Trump has asked President Abbas to stop these payments, in order to facilitate peace with Israel.  This idea was immediately cast down with Abbas declaring He would never compromise on these payments.  Proverbs declares that the LORD hates “hands that shed innocent blood and hearts that devise wicked imaginations and feet that are swift in running to mischief” (Pr. 6:16-19).

King of Jordan Contributes Funds

Last week the King Abdullah of Jordan announce that he is giving some one million Dinars (1.4 million U.S.) to the Islamic Charitable Trust or Waqf that manages the Temple Mount.  Each worker will receive about $423 U.S. as a bonus.  The money is seen as a major show of support for the Waqf, which led protests against Israeli security measures at the holy site last month, ramping up tensions between Israel and the Arab world (www.timesofisrael.com). This gift further strengthens Islam’s sovereignty over this mountain, and rewards the heinous behavior of its workers who have harassed Jewish visitors and promoted violence against Israel in the guise of defending the Al Aksa Mosque.

Secret Land Sales

Another bombshell report last month revealed that the Greek Orthodox Church has sold off large tracts of its properties to foreign buyers.  Some of these lands include sites where the Knesset is built, the Prime Minister’s residence, The President’s House, The Israeli Museum, Liberty Bell Park, the Inbal Hotel, the Old Train Station, the upscale neighborhood of Talbieh, the Park in Caesarea, and areas near the clock tower in Jaffa.

The Greek Orthodox Church is the second largest landowner in Israel after the State.  The Ottoman rulers objected to the “Latin” (Catholic) church, but looked with favor on the Greek Church.  Aided by funds from the Russian czar, the Greek Church accumulated more and more land in Jerusalem. After the foundation of the State of Israel, the Church elected to lease many of its lands to Israel for 99 years.  Some of these “leases” are set to expire in less than 18 years, leaving approximately 1500 home-owners shocked to find out that their land and homes had been sold out from underneath them.  The private investors who have purchased these lands are identified as Bona Trading and Saint Ventures Limited, both Caribbean-registered tax-haven companies.  Another company has bought lands in Jaffa.  No one knows who owns/manages these companies.  The Israeli Justice Ministry is currently discussing these land sales to see if some kind of “intervention” is possible.

Other lands recently sold by the Church include the Petra and Imperial Hotels in the Old City.  A recent Israeli Court decision ruled in favor of the Jewish Group Ateret Cohanim which purchased them from the Church.  However Ottoman Law applies and the current Arab families who lease it can stay for 3 generations from the date when they first moved in.  The Greek Patriarch Irineos who originally sold these hotels to the Jewish Group has been presently demoted to a monk and is holed up in a private apartment, as he has been subjected to death threats.  Palestinians consider sale of land to Jews a serious crime (death sentence), and most Orthodox Christians in Jerusalem are Palestinians.

Abu Amar, a Palestinian Muslim from Jerusalem's Old City, has been sending bread, vegetables and water up to the former patriarch, hauling it up by rope, for years.  Despite their different religions, he feels a humanitarian urge to provide for Irineos' needs. "I had a good relationship with him, and I still do," Amar said. "I cannot neglect him" (www.jpost.com).

A third parcel of land is found at the summit of hill in Abu-Tor, not far from the House of Peace.  The Greek Church sold this viewpoint to an Israeli Development Group to build 61 luxury apartments and a hotel. However, the next Patriarch Theophilos III reneged on the deal, but then lost millions in an adverse court judgment.  The community is up in arms over this sale, and to date no construction has taken place.

Land ownership in Israel is complex and confusing.  The property laws that are now in place in Israel date back to Turkish Rule. When the British took over the region and were given a Mandate to rule, Turkish Law continued to be upheld.  Israel, upon becoming a state, ratified the Ottoman Land Code of 1858, which is known as the Basic Law.  Private Church lands are separate and present even more opportunities for corruption.  Jordan also holds lands that are “administered” for it, including the Seven Arches Hotel on the Mt. of Olives and the remnants of King Hussain’s summer palace in Pisgat Ze’ev.  Jordan also illegally seized Jewish properties during its occupation and gave them to present Arab owners.  Then there is private or “Tabu” land which is held free and clear by the property owner.

Please Pray

Intercede this week for the Temple Mount.  The P.A. has promised more riots and violence.  Pray for the safety of the IDF soldiers and the police who guard its entrances.  Pray that terrorists be exposed.  Pray this word from Obadiah: “But upon Mt Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness, and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions” (vs. 17).

Declare Obadiah verse 21 as well: “And saviors shall come up on Mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau, and the kingdom shall be the Lord’s.”  Over 1,000 Israelis visited the Temple Mount in Jerusalem on last Tuesday in honor of Tisha B’Av, making it the largest Jewish crowd to ascend the site in recent years according to Israeli sources.

Pray for the land of Israel this week.  Pray that every falsified land deed be uncovered, and every shady deal come to naught. Pray for the communities in Judea and Samaria.  Pray they keep their land, prosper, and that their borders remain secure.  The P.A. is claiming that these lands and settlements are on occupied Palestinian Lands.   Pray this word for all who dwell in Jerusalem and Israel: “And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God” (Amos. 9:15).  Pray also the LORD’s word to Jeremiah 31:17:  “And there is hope in thine end that thy children shall come again to their own border.
